Thanksgiving

For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, For love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Mom Fail!! It still went on the calendar last year because it's just too funny!

Well this is the week you guys! Bring on the crazy for the next 40 days!! I truly believe the holidays are what you make them! They can make you crazy or you can laugh at all of the chaos and make great memories!!

Do you have picture perfect holiday get togethers and photo ops all planned out in your head? What if they end up looking like my girls in the photo above? Can you handle it? Can you laugh at yourself? I swear to God, I had the best image in my little brain of what this photo was going to turn out like for the calendar that I make for my family every year. Mom FAIL!!! But hey, by the end of my failed photoshoot, Whitney was balling, Kacie was rolling all over the yard in that damn pumpkin and I was laughing so hard I was literally peeing my pants! So don’t be too hard on yourself this holiday season! Have fun, grab a drink, sit back and laugh so hard you pee your pants!! In the meantime, check out these 3 Thanksgiving Hacks & Traditions that I have found to be awesome!

Kids Coloring Table

My kids are like a cow dog puppy. They have to have a job to do or else they find themselves in trouble. Kidding! Sort of. Anyway, have a kids table set up with coloring books and activities so the kids can make pictures for their family while the adults mingle until dinner is ready! You can also cover the kids table in butcher paper instead of a tablecloth. The kids can color away with no boundaries and little to no trouble-making!

This is not my recipe in this photo. I just used it to make your mouth water. Our stuffing looks similar to this though!

Crockpot Stuffing

I never knew you could make stuffing so easily!! My mother in law always has crafty ways of doing things and this is one of my favorites! Thanks Deanie!! It’s Eric's favorite too! It’s so easy! Mix all the ingredients in the pot and done!

Recipe:

6 cups Dried Bread, I like to use French bread, Cubed or torn into little pieces

1 yellow onion chopped

6 stalks of celery chopped

Salt & pepper to taste

1 tsp of Sage

1tsp of Poultry Seasoning

1 egg

1 Can of chicken or vegetable broth

Directions: Spray your crockpot with cooking spray. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a frying pan and then brown onion and celery. Add salt and pepper, sage & poultry seasoning. Empty frying pan ingredients into the crockpot add bread, beaten egg and broth. Give it a good mix. Cover and turn on low heat for 3-4 hours until heated through.

Thanksgiving leftovers taste even better when they are fried together in a wonton! I use honey mustard for dipping sauce but cranberry sauce is good too!

Thanksgiving Wontons

These are an awesome leftover!! Just wrap up some turkey, cream cheese, mashed potato, stuffing, cranberries, whatever you like and fry them up for the perfect appetizer or snack the day after Thanksgiving!

This recipe is kind of a do-what-you-want, fee-for-all. You can use egg rolls, which is easier to cram more stuff into, or wonton wraps. I used wonton wraps because it's what I had in my fridge. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet on high. I always turn the heat down to medium before I put anything in the oil so I don't splatter myself.

Take a dollop of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberries and cream cheese and put them in the wrap. Follow the directions on the package to seal them up and then fry them in the oil for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Until they are golden brown and warm in the middle. You guys, these things make my mouth WATER!!! They are so good!

I hope you enjoyed my hacks!! Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!! And remember to smile, laugh at the little things and have fun!!
